Glossary:
Cookies
A cookie is also commonly called a tracking cookie, browser cookie, or HTTP cookie. It is a small text file stored on a user's computer by a web browser.
The information in the text file is sent from a web server to the web browser as an HTTP header.
Cookies are used to store information about the users interaction with a particular website. Common examples are site preferences or online shopping cart details.
It is possible to disable cookies in your web browser, however this may stop e-commerce sites working correctly.
Cookies have been used by advertising and marketing companies to build a profile of users by tracking third-party cookies. Regular cookie cleaning is recommended to stop this practice. Third-party cookies can also be blocked by most browsers to reduce tracking by advertising companies.
